Datos

Silver Arts Award is for students who have already completed Bronze Arts Award with me.

What does it involve?
The Silver Arts Award in film making is guided by me as your child's teacher and in the lessons we would be working towards your child making their own short films including drama, documentary and animation.

Throughout the process children are asked to record and reflect their experience and to submit this as part of the portfolio.

The Silver Arts Award will take 1 academic year to be completed by the end of the Summer term 2027 - and is in two parts.

Part 1 is goal setting, making your own films, reviewing 2 films or artworks by others, researching careers and education pathways in film/ media and presenting your research.

Part 2 is being an Arts Leader and organising an Arts Event. The Arts Event can be an online event that the group organise together or students can organise and lead their own arts event where they live or organise her own arts event online. An example of an arts event is a film screening, an exhibition, arts workshops, a series of YouTube Tutorials or a performance.

How is Arts Award assessed?
The young person would create a portfolio of work and evidence which would be assessed and moderated by Trinity College London.

The portfolio can be in a variety of forms such as Googleslides, or a sketchbook. The photos and short film that your child creates will also be part of the work submitted. I will also email you with a workbook which you can print out if your child prefers to hand write or it can be added to Googleslides to fill in .
Answers can also be recorded on video or sound if preferred to writing.
Currently the outcome is a pass or fail - there are no grades.

What is the Qualification?
Silver Arts Award is a Level Two Qualification (Trinity College London Level 2 Award In The Arts) which is worth 10 credits. This is the equivalent to a GCSE and colleges can accept it in applications (check with college of choice). You will also have a portfolio of work that you can take to collage applications.
If your child is using this for college admission, then check with college admissions individually if they accept this qualification towards your child's chosen course.

When would it be?
Wednesdays 12.15pm - 1.15pm online on Zoom.

How long would it take?
For Silver Arts Award the recommended time is 60 hours.
With the recommended teaching times the Silver Arts award will take 1 academic year and during that time I will give you 30 hours of live online lessons and it would take 3 school terms until end of the Summer 2027.

That being said every child is different and has different needs so some may take longer.
Children will also be asked to complete work and do tasks at home outside of the lesson as part of the process. I will keep in touch via email with updates each week on any homework tasks - (like filming you to make their film!)

How much will it be?
It's £16 per lesson and there will be 5 half terms with around 5 or 6 lessons each term.
Over 5 half terms there will be approximately 30 lessons
30 x £16 = £480
There is also an admin charge from Trinity College London Arts Award to register and receive the award which is approx £30 - £40 TBC

How old can the young person be to participate?
11 to 25 years old.
Arts Award recommends that Silver Arts Award is for children's 14 years old and above as I think organising an arts event can require maturity and more advanced skills.
I would advise children that are 11 - 12 years old to try the Bronze Arts award first to develop their skills. I teach the Silver award to children who have already completed Bronze with me.

What equipment will my child want?
For the online lessons I would like you to have a laptop with a camera and a microphone so we can communicate on Zoom. During the online lessons I will ask your child to talk to me and show me their work as we go along.

To take your creative photographs you can use your phone or a camera.
To make films I recommend using a phone or an iPad both to record footage and to edit. You can download an app like Capcut to edit your film.
