Forest School and Paediatric First Aid - Bedfordshire

This is a Level 3, 16 hour Forest School First Aid course run on Mon 12 & Tue 13 Sep 22 at Boyd Campsite and Activity Centre, Church Road, Henlow, SG16 6AN

It is an outdoor course, although there will be access to shelter.

The Course syllabus includes:
Understanding the role of the forest school first-aider, including reference to:
the importance of preventing cross infection
the need for recording incidents and actions
use of available equipment
Considering environmental factors in outdoor first aid
Managing an unresponsive casualty when assistance is up to 2 hours away
When & how to move a casualty
Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Recognise & administer first aid, including primary and secondary surveys, to an infant, child or adult casualty who is/has;
unresponsive & breathing normally
unresponsive & not breathing normally, whether the result of drowning, avalanche or lightning strike
choking
wounded and bleeding
injuries to eyes, bones, muscles, joints, chest, abdomen and pelvis
suspected head or spinal injuries
small cuts, grazes & bruises
small splinters
minor burns and scalds
bites & stings
foreign bodies in the ears, eyes or nose
poisoning
having a heart attack, stroke, seizure or an asthma attack
suffering complications due to diabetes, anaphylaxis or medical shock
an electric shock
suffering the effects of extreme heat or cold
has been immersed in water
having febrile convulsions
suffering from meningitis

A separate paediatric or Emergency first aid certificate can be achieved at the same time as the forest school qualification, please ensure you let us know at checkout if this is something that you need.
