Rubik’s Hoop 13:30 – 15:30 (2hrs)
Apparatus: Hoop
Level: Improver to Advanced
Total cost: £40 (with discount opportunities! See ticket details!)
Description: Bendy (and faux-bendy!) hoop tricks for those with an inclination for the odd and a
desire to confuse their audience – and occasionally perhaps freak them out a wee bit. Join Freya
(@pelliefey) for this contemporary jaunt into the strange and usual side of flex tricks, where
you’ll twist in new ways and have a chance to shed the conventional elegance of classic aerial.
We’ll start with an active flex warm-up (featuring some of Freya’s absolute favourite flexibility
exercises) then work through a series of twisty hoop shapes and transitions that will build into a
sequence.
Interested but don’t feel bendy enough? Don’t worry! Yes, there will be some more extended
move variations for those who appear to lack bones (if you’re looking for a flex challenge and
some more extreme bends, we 100% have you covered) HOWEVER a lot of the moves in this
workshop play into visual illusion and unconventional angles that look way more bendy and organ-relocating than they actually are. You absolutely do NOT need a flat split or the ability to
stick your foot on your head – but this workshop will help you get freaky with that if you do.
Freya is a multidisciplinary circus artist specialising in hoop and rope and has performed and
