Level 4 Online Workshop
Level 4 Makaton Workshop, teaching stages 7 & 8 of the Core Vocabulary signs & symbols. You will learn a further 103 signs & symbols from stages 7 & 8.
Level 4 Workshop is the next step of your Makaton journey after completing Level 3.
It is recommended for people who need to use Makaton at home and in their work, to develop the communication skills of others.
Level 4 training is an advanced level of Makaton training and will help you to improve and develop your signing and symbol skills and how to use them effectively every day.
Content
Level 4 training provides a practical learning session on how to apply the Makaton Communication Programme. The Level 4 Workshop will start with a refresher on the signs previously taught in Levels 1, 2 & 3 building on topics such as; feelings & interests. New Signs & Symbols from stages 7 & 8 will also be introduced, which are ideal to develop life skills; money, quantities, numbers and time.
Delivery method
Online workshops are delivered in real time in a virtual meeting room via Zoom - You will receive the Zoom link for the workshop via an email from signingtogethermakatontutor@gmail.com after booking and full payment has been received. Please look out for this email (also check your junk folder) as it contains important information ahead of the workshop.
Duration
Online workshops comprise of approximately six learning hours, dependant on group size and any previous knowledge or experience.
Entry criteria
The entry criteria for this Workshop is previous completion of Levels 1, 2 & 3 (You will be asked to send a photo of your Level 3 certificate via email). Participants must be over 16 years of age. Please raise at time of booking if you have any challenges or additional needs, so reasonable adjustments can be made to support your learning & participation.
Study materials
You will receive a Participant Manual which includes the Makaton symbols and signs that you learn in the workshop.
You will also be given a certificate upon completion of the workshop. Please remember to keep your Level 4 training certificate in case you want to attend further Makaton training.
Next step
Level 4 training completes the Makaton workshop series. After completing Level 4 training you can become a Makaton Tutor. You are required to have at least 6 months experience of using Makaton before submitting your application.

Please ensure your environment is quiet and distraction free when attending the online workshop.
You will need a good internet connection to ensure Zoom works well, as well as a big enough screen to see all participants (this can be up to 11 others).
Ideally, a computer/laptop screen with camera and microphone function, as you will need to be seen and heard clearly for assessment of your signing.
Mobile phones are NOT suitable as you will need both hands free and visible throughout the workshop and during group activities you will need to see all participants.
