This creative and choreographic workshop offers an embodied insight into the creative process behind Building Blocks by Marie Chabert. Participants are invited to explore movement from within, deepening their awareness of the spaces they inhabit—both internal and external. We will work with creating, filling, opening, and closing spaces, using surrounding architecture as an extension of the body. The senses will be engaged to explore how inner perceptions meet the structures around us.

From this place of tuning in, we will construct bodies in space—stacking, layering, and magnifying individual perspectives into shared compositions.

Running alongside the choreographic exploration, a group of artists—also workshop participants—will engage in live movement drawing. As the dancers move through space, the artists will observe and respond through drawing, capturing not only the form and structure of the bodies but also their motion, rhythm, and spatial relationships. These drawings will reflect the fluidity, tension, and dynamics of the movement in real time.

The two practices—dancing and drawing—will exist in an ongoing exchange, informing and enriching one another. Sometimes the drawings will echo the gestures and compositions created by the dancers; at other times, they may offer contrast or reinterpretation. Together, they form a shared investigation into presence, perception, and the visual traces of movement.
