The 108 — Beach Kirtan
The 108 is a monthly invitation to slow down, turn inward and journey deeply with a single sacred mantra.
Rather than moving through many chants, we will sound one mantra 108 times together, allowing repetition, breath, silence and sacred sound to carry us beneath the thinking mind and into a deeper space of listening, presence and connection.
For now, we will be journeying with the beautiful Gāyatrī Mantra. Over time, we will explore other mantras too, taking time to understand something of their meaning, sacred context and particular healing and transformative qualities.
Each gathering will unfold gently through:
• A brief opening circle
• Grounding meditation and sounding OM
• Traditional invocations connected with the mantra
• Sounding the mantra 108 times together
• A period of silence and integration
• A quiet closing mantra
• A closing sharing circle
Sounding a mantra 108 times can be a profound inner journey. The repetition gradually invites us to move beyond simply “singing” the mantra and into a more intimate relationship with the sound itself — allowing ourselves to listen, receive and be sounded.
The 108 is held as a gentle ceremonial space for soul tending through sacred sound.
No previous experience of Sanskrit, mantra or kīrtan is needed. You are warmly welcome exactly as you are. The only invitation is to come with an open heart and a willingness to meet these sacred sounds and the space we create together with care and respect.
Full details will be sent out a couple of days before the event.
