Exploring the Four Community Living Service Categories for IHS and ICS - Virtual Classroom

Minnesota is on the forefront of service provision and person-centered practices. We see this throughout systems and processes used to promote independence and a high quality of life for each person receiving supports. Individualized Home Supports and Integrated Community Supports are just two of these services. These services are built around providing support and/or training in four different community living service categories to people living independently. What are these categories and how do you support people in these different areas? After the session, participants will have the confidence and understanding to implement these supports according to their 245D license.

Course objectives:

• Review the origin of these new services and the Community Living Service Categories (CLS)
• Define Individualized Home Supports and Integrated Community Supports
• Understand support and training activities in these service types
• Review CLS categories including community participation, health, safety, and wellness, household management, and adaptive skills
• Discuss examples of supports in each of the categories and how to document these supports in a person-centered way

As a 245D service provider, it is likely that you want to expand your services to include supports for people across all walks of life. This training will enable you to implement those services and provide the highest level of support that Minnesota is looking for!
