We have all heard stories or reports regarding the maltreatment of vulnerable adults or minors. Though this is a situation we desperately do not want to happen to the people we support, we must be prepared in the event it does. We need to understand what the Vulnerable Adult Act states, as well as MN Statutes, Chapter 245D regarding reporting and review requirements for maltreatment. It is vitally important to understand situations in which an internal review must be done and how to properly complete one. A thorough internal review will assist in identifying patterns, taking corrective action, and preventing major incidents in the future. Internal reviews also serve as guidance towards employment and program compliance-related issues.
Topics will include:
Participants will leave with a greater understanding of situations requiring internal reviews and how to complete them correctly. Providers need to be confident in recognizing, responding to, reporting, and reviewing maltreatment. This course will enable participants to have the confidence they need to complete all of these steps!
Audience: Designated Coordinators, Designated Managers, Directors/Managers, and other positions responsible for completing internal reviews
CEU Contact Hours: 2.4 for Nurses, 2 for Social Workers
Registered participants will have access to the session recording for two weeks following the training.
