This is an opportunity to view some parts of this very special building that are rarely seen or hidden in plain sight.
This will include remaining medieval paintings with which the Cathedral would have been covered in the 12th century.
We will let you know which places that we visit can be seen at other times, once you know where and how to look.
This Tour is part of a programme throughout this anniversary day:
11am - Guided Tour of Bishops Palace (Usual entrance rates apply. Cadw members free.)
12 noon - Pilgrim Prayers at shrine of St David - and online at https://www.youtube.com/@StDavidsCathedral1181/streams
2pm - TOUR OF RARELY SEEN PARTS OF THE CATHEDRAL - WITH EMPHASIS ON THE PARTS BUILT BY BISHOP HENRI DE GOWER.
3pm-4.15pm - Open Tower in Porth-y-Twr and Bell Tower - no charge, donations can be made.
4.30pm - Procession from Porth-y-Twr to Great Hall of Bishops' Palace - led by members of Cathedral choir
4.45pm - "Plainchant in the Palace" - Cathedral Lay Clerks and Choral Scholars singing in Great Hall of Bishops Palace - no entrance charge, retiring collection.
At the end of the Tour of Rarely Seen parts of the Cathedral, there will be the facility to visit the Cathedral Library for anyone who would like. The Cathedral Library is usually open to the public on Monday and Friday afternoons.
The Cathedral Shop in the nave will be open on the day of the Tour between 10am and 4.30pm. Books, cards, prints and gifts are on sale with lots more information and images of what you will have visited. The outside shop in the Domus building between the Cathedral and the Bishops Palace, will be open between 10am and 4.30pm.
MamGu's Cafe, in the Cathedral Refectory, will be open 9.30am to 4pm, and will be serving hot drinks, Welshcakes, snacks, breakfast, and light lunches.
All visitors are also welcome to join the Cathedral worship services.
