If you were sitting at my oak table right now, I’d probably pour you a coffee before asking what brought you here. Most people arrive at The French Room with a story — a teacher who terrified them, a holiday conversation that froze mid-sentence, or a long-held wish they’ve never quite dared to chase.
I’ve been speaking French for more than 30 years and set up The French Room inc2015, but what really interests me is confidence — that fragile, brilliant thing that decides whether your words make it out of your mouth.
The French Room isn’t a classroom in the usual sense. It’s a place to try things out, to get feedback and to realise that mistakes are simply part of how adults learn. Some people come every week, others dip in and out; all of them leave a little braver than they arrived.
If you’re curious, start with a short chat — no test, no pressure, just a conversation. You might be surprised how much French you already know once someone gives you the space to use it.
The point isn’t to sound perfect. It’s to sound like yourself — only in French.
What do you want to understand or experience more deeply in French?
(It could be cultural, conversational, professional, or something entirely personal.)
