Experience one of Snowdonia’s most iconic mountain adventures with our professionally guided traverse of Crib Goch, the legendary knife‑edge arête of the Snowdon Horseshoe. This full‑day journey blends exhilarating scrambling, dramatic exposure, and unforgettable views, all under the care of an expert Mountain Leader.
What to Expect
Your day begins at Pen y Pass, where your Mountain Leader will brief the group and prepare you for the ascent. With a maximum ratio of 4 participants per leader, you receive close support, coaching, and a calm, confidence‑building experience throughout the technical sections.
The initial climb leads onto the East Ridge before emerging onto the famous Crib Goch arête. Here, you’ll move carefully along the narrow crest, taking in sweeping views across Llyn Llydaw, the Glyderau, and the full Snowdon Horseshoe. Your leader will guide you safely over the pinnacles and onward to Garnedd Ugain, the second-highest peak in Wales.
From here, instead of following the crowds to the summit and down the main paths, the route takes a quieter, more atmospheric line. After visiting Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), you descend via the little‑known Llechog ridge, a broad, scenic shoulder that offers a peaceful contrast to the morning’s exposure. This path reveals expansive views over Cwm Clogwyn and the Llanberis Valley, gradually easing into a steady descent toward the village.
Finish
The walk concludes in Llanberis, where you can relax, refuel, and reflect on completing one of the most celebrated ridge traverses in the UK.
