The RYA VHF / SRC Radio course is designed to give you the knowledge to use a marine VHF / SRC radio. It is followed by an exam which, as long as you pass, will give you a licence to operate a marine VHF radio. The licence is a legal requirement.
Throughout the day you will get lots of practice using the radio talking to other people, and will learn the following:
How to talk on the radio
What the correct words to use are
To operate the functions and message settings
To use the radio to get help in emergencies
What other equipment makes up the radio network and how it operates.
The course will run from 0900 - 1830.
The course can be intense, so we ask all students to complete the pre course learning, which is to be done before your course starts. Links to this are emailed to you after booking.
To complete the course and get your license you must pay an additional RYA Admin Fee of £76 (paid directly to the RYA). More information on how to pay for this is sent after booking.
