Come and enjoy the peace of the woodland with a cup of tea around our campfire and try a range of woodland crafts and skills. You can take things at your own pace, with our experienced outdoor leaders on hand to welcome and support you. Our aim is to carve out some regular, quiet space in busy lives for creativity and connection to nature within a community of women. We will have a simple set up with a fire circle to gather in and some hammocks for relaxing.
We will bring an idea or two for something we could make, explore or learn and the resources to go along with it, plus some hot water and tea to drink. The sessions will evolve with the needs and interests of our community and will include use of tools, campfire cooking, mindful and creative offers, and bushcraft skills. We would welcome the group sharing their interests and skills and also hope to invite guests in to do the same.
These sessions are offered on a pay-as-you-can basis, with tickets ranging from £5–£25. As we don’t currently have funding for this project, your contribution goes directly towards resources, tea and coffee, campfire snacks, firewood, and woodland rental.
We don’t want cost to be a barrier to attending, so please choose the ticket price that feels right for you. If you’re struggling, please do get in touch at laura@wildlivesforestschool.co.uk - we can offer free tickets or arrange a skills or time exchange (for example, volunteering, helping with setup or pack-down, photography, or sharing a particular skill or area of knowledge).
This is a welcoming and safe space for women aged 16+ This session is offered to marginalised genders including women, trans women and non binary people who are comfortable in a space that centres the experience of women in the outdoors.
These sessions will take place on our beech tree site in the beautiful woodland of Warley Woods.
Please see the map in the event attachments for how to find us
Our sessions take place outside in a woodland. Please let us know any access requirements and dress accordingly. Especially during the colder months please ensure you have plenty of layers of clothing to keep yourself warm and dry. You can always take layers off if you get too warm. We recommend boots or trainers you don't mind getting muddy, warm layers and a waterproof jacket. We also recommend long trousers to help prevent scratches, stings and bites.
If it rains we will put a shelter up over the fire circle and enjoy the sound of the raindrops. In the event of really awful weather or thunderstorms we will cancel the session and let you know via email and Facebook. Please do add laura@wildlivesforestschool.co.uk to your contacts so you receive our emails.
We will provide a drink and snack but please feel free to bring your own as well. We have some log seating but please bring a camping chair if you can.
We have hand washing facilities on site and ask that everyone washes their hands before cooking or eating. There are also hand washing facilities and toilets, including accessible toilets in the Warley Woods pavilion – please do try to remove as much mud from boots before going inside. There’s a ramp available to enable access into the pavilion, please ask in the shop and a member of staff will arrange that for you.
Coffees and food are available from the cafe in the pavilion and The Happy Coffee Man is usually in Warley Woods, on the main path by the Abbey Road entrance.
