How to make your churches and worshipping spaces more inclusive and accessible for those with Disabilities and additional needs.
Claire Reynolds our Disability advisor introduces a day geared towards making your churches and worshipping spaces more accessible for those with Disabilities, additional needs or neurodivergence. Taking a holistic view, and with the help of experts in the field, we will look at the whole range of church life. From the physical building, to looking at how to make children's and youth groups more accessible, and to different services and groups - what barriers are there to people fully hearing the good news and engaging with the life of the community. We will be looking at various ways of breaking down those barriers - and how making one small change can make a massive difference.

Travelling by rail
From Exeter Central Station
The Old Deanery is a flat 5 minute walk from Exeter Central Station. Turn left out of the station and walk straight down Queen Street. At the end, straight ahead of you is a cut through between buildings, which leads to the Cathedral Green. The Old Deanery is to be found beyond the West Front of the Cathedral on the right hand side of the road.
From Exeter St. David’s Station
The Old Deanery is an uphill 15 minute walk from Exeter St. David’s Station. Leave the station via the main booking hall and walk across the forecourt keeping to the right of the car parking area. At the junction with Bonhay Road, cross over at the pedestrian crossing. Continue straight into a passageway called St. Clement’s Lane. At the top you will come out on St. David’s Hill. Turn right and continue walking up the hill. Turn left into Hele Road at the mini roundabout. At the junction with New North Road turn right and go straight on into Queen Street. At the end, straight ahead of you is a cut through between buildings, which leads to the Cathedral Green. The Old Deanery is to be found beyond the West Front of the Cathedral on the right hand side of the road.
Travelling by bus

Travelling by road
There are three Park and Ride car parks with bus links directly to the High Street. The nearest Park and Ride stops to the Old Deanery are outside John Lewis (buses from Sowton Car Park) or on Fore Street (buses from Matford and Honiton Road Car Parks). Driving from the South
Leave the A38 / M5 at Junction 31 and join the A30. Turn off the A30 at the Ide and A377 slip road. At the roundabout take the third exit onto the A377 (Alphington Road). At the Exe Bridges roundabout take the Frog Street turn off and follow the “City” lane up Western Way. For the Cathedral & Quay Car Park, take the right-hand turn, which is signposted to the car park.
Driving from the North
Leave the M5 at Junction 30. At the roundabout, take the third exit on the A379. Bear left into the A379 (Rydon Lane). At the roundabout take the third exit onto the B3182 (Topsham Road). You will pass the golf course on your left, County Hall to the right, followed by St Leonard’s Church to the left. For the Cathedral & Quay Car Park, take the first exit left down Western Way and the car park is on the left-hand side.
Parking
There is only disabled parking for visitors at The Old Deanery. The nearest public car park is the Cathedral & Quay off Western Way or Guildhall Shopping Centre.
Parking for disabled visitors can be booked in advance in the enclosed courtyard car park at the Old Deanery. This must be arranged with the organiser of your meeting as the space needs to be reserved before your visit.
