This introductory course run by the Diocese of Exeter is for anyone: whether you are exploring your vocation, want to go deeper in understanding your faith or grow in your discipleship, or you are simply curious! It is open to anyone who is a member of a church community. This is the foundational course to train as a Licensed Lay Minister (Reader) or for one of the new Commissioned Roles, or if you are in the discerment process.
It covers the basics of theology, ministry, the Bible and spirituality in a supportive and active learning environment. This is a hybrid course with 7 in-person sessions (3 Saturdays and 4 midweek) and some online work to be done in between the sessions. You will not be required to write any essays.
We encourage you to speak to your incumbent about your intention to attend the course. Once you have signed up, we will contact your incumbent and let them know about your booking. If this is not appropriate for some reason, then please contact us at foundations@exeter.anglican.org.
