Dr Mark Fisher, Clinical Head for Mental Health Services for Older People at Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, Family Court Judge Hana Ellis, FLS Deputy Chair Andrew Finnie and FLS executive member Liz Lewes will present this one-hour, broad brush, beginners’ introduction to the Act. The webinar will cover:

  • The early stages of the Act - sections 11 to 15
  • Role of District Inspector
  • Section 16 reviews
  • Compulsory Treatment Orders
  • Responsible clinician and second health professionals
  • The hearing
  • Extensions
  • Mental Health Review Tribunal
  • Rights of appeal
  • Legal aid
  • Potential reform
