Local fibre artist, Trish O’Meara of Wormit Woolies invites you to join her unique Fleece Rug making Workshop.
In this workshop you will learn the ancient art of wet felting and create your own felted fleece rug from the fleece of a living sheep.
Trish sources her fleece sustainably from local farmers and will share her wealth of knowledge and resources during the workshop.
Come prepared for an upper body workout and wear your oldest clothes as felting can be 'splashy' and physically demanding.
Using warm water and soap, we will begin felting with an introduction to a few simple tools. We will then learn the art of throwing and fulling which is when the real magic happens!
This is a practical workshop and also packed with theory along the way, including a little history and folklore.
You will be provided with an apron along with everything else needed to create your very own one of a kind felted rug/throw.
Each participant will need to bring along a large towel and a bag to carry your finished (but damp!) rug home in.
If travelling by car, please park at Waterstone crook car park and make your way up to the centre. We have limited parking at the Centre which is reserved for blue badge holders and those with limited mobility only.
