Please note, firing charges are now included in the cost of the class.

We cover a range of hand-building, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques and work is fired regularly at the Centre. Our classes are educational as well as social and open to beginners and experienced potters, and you can join our pottery classes at any stage of a block.

We have 6 throwing wheels of varying sizes, including one for people with low mobility that does not require the use of a foot peddle, all spaced out in our bright 'pottery kitchen'. We have a glazing area, drying room, kiln house and a pottery classroom where you can sit (or stand!) to work.

Our Pottery tutors come with decades of teaching experience and ceramics knowledge.
Attending our pottery classes opens further opportunities to take part in specific Pottery workshops or studio days which may only be open to current attendees or returning students, such as Raku, or ceramic technique workshops and our Saturday studio days.

Clay is available to buy at the Centre, or you can use our recycled clay to practice with.

Artist Biography
This class is led by artist and ceramicist Kevin Andrew Morris. Initially undertaking Three Dimensional Design at Grays School of Art, Kevin went on to graduate in Ceramic Design from The Glasgow School of Art before furthering his education with post graduate courses at Robert Gordon’s University. In addition to teaching at Forgan Arts Centre, Kevin works in the Ceramics department at Grays School of Art, as well as being a Collective founder of the Aberdeen Ceramics Workshop. Kevin is a highly qualified and experienced potter with a wealth of knowledge in wheel work, hand building and glazing techniques. Kevin will teach you everything you need to know from creating a piece, to adding texture and pattern or perfecting the finish of your ceramics.
