This outdoor, nature-based session is designed for home-educated children to learn through hands-on experiences in a supportive and engaging environment. The session encourages curiosity, independence, and confidence while helping children build practical skills and a meaningful connection with nature.
Children will take part in guided activities such as learning how to safely build, manage, and extinguish a small fire, with a strong emphasis on fire safety, respect, and teamwork. Fire-based activities may include warming food, simple campfire tasks, and learning about fire as a natural element.
The session also includes nature crafts, using natural and foraged materials such as wood, leaves, clay, and natural fibres. Craft activities are open-ended and child-led, supporting creativity, fine motor skills, and imaginative thinking.
Additional elements may include:
Exploring seasonal changes
Basic bushcraft and outdoor skills
Cooperative games and group activities
Storytelling, reflection, or quiet time in nature
