Join Chester Cycling Campaign on our annual Glamorous Gals and Dapper Chaps Cycle Ride – a fun, free ride to celebrate World Car Free Day and a celebration of looking snazzy on a bike!
This year’s event take place on Sunday, September 20th. Meet in the city centre, in front of the Town Hall. We’ll leave at 10.30am, so please arrive by 10.15am ready to assemble.
Bring your friends and your bike/trike/mobility cycle/cargo bike/unicycle/penny farthing/whatever! Electric bikes welcome.
We’ll ride a route around Chester, taking in some of Chester’s cycling infrastructure, making occasional stops, for about an hour and a half, then go for a coffee, so bring a lock for you bike.
Lycra isn’t banned of course, but do dress up as much as you like - and maybe dress your bike up too!
Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult and any young person under 18 must have the consent of a parent/carer to take part. The organisation of this event is being done with Cycling UK.
Instructions
The ride will be about 6 miles, mostly level, and on both streets and shared off road paths, including a section of the canal towpath. It will be at a relaxed pace, will last about an hour and a half and we will have pauses along the way. We will start and finish at the Town Hall Square and will go for a coffee after the ride (optional).
There will be riders from Chester Cycling Campaign acting as the leader and the “tail end marker”. There will also be marshals to ensure safety at those places on the route which require a little extra care.
For those who may not be confident riding with traffic, the size of the group affords quite a high degree of protection from vehicles and will ensure maximum safety. The Leader and Tail End Marker mean that the extent of the group is clear to other road users.
We look forward to seeing you at the Town Hall Square at 10:15 am, ready to start the ride at 10:30 am. Bring a lock for you cycle (and your swipe card for the Cycle Hub, if you have one).
