Informations

This SOUND BATH is the final case study session I am offering as part of my Professional Diploma in Group Sound Therapy with the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST).

Please note: This session will be video recorded for my final assessment.

During this session you will experience a sound bath with Himalayan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, gong, and therapeutic percussion. The sound bath will be complemented using a reflective method called the 7Rs method of experiential processing. During the session, I will guide you through the 7Rs method to identify and process something that is causing resistance in your life.

✨ I am offering this session at a reduced cost of £7 (to cover venue hire) in exchange for your feedback. Spaces are limited to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.

PLEASE NOTE:
This session is NOT SUITABLE for you at this time if:
• You are female and less than 3 months’ pregnant,
• You have a serious mental health condition, such as psychosis, personality disorder, or you are currently suicidal,
• You have frequent seizures or tonic-clonic seizures,
• You have a pacemaker,
• You have had surgery very recently or have complications and post-surgery pain,

Instructions

I am delighted you have chosen to attend this session and look forward to meeting you. Below are some simple guidelines to help you get the most out of your experience.

ON ARRIVAL
• My aim is to provide a safe and relaxing space for everyone, so please arrive promptly (aim to arrive 10 minutes before the start time). You will not be able to enter once the sound bath has started.
• Please put your phone on silent or turn it off.
• As this session is part of my Professional Diploma, I will ask you to complete a short Consent to Participate form when you arrive.
• PLEASE NOTE: This entire session will be video recorded for my final assessment. The video will be angled towards me, rather than at participants.

WHAT TO WEAR AND WHAT TO BRING
• Wear comfortable, warm clothing that allows you to move freely. You will be lying (or sitting) down during the sound bath.
• Everything you need to make a comfy nest will be provided (yoga mat, cushion, bolster, blanket)
• Bring a notepad and pen if you wish to make any reflective notes about your experience.
• Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated before and after the sound.
• Avoid eating heavily before the session and do not drink alcohol or take any illegal substances prior to attending.

BEFORE THE SOUND BATH
• I will explain the 7Rs method of experiential processing and guide you through a few short visualisations. I will also invite you to identify something you wish to ‘release’ (e.g., a symptom, or challenging / difficult situation) which is causing ‘resistance’ in your life. You can choose to go as deep as feels safe for you.

DURING THE SOUND BATH
• You don’t need to do anything, just let go of any expectations and give yourself this time to relax and be present in the moment. Allow the sound to wash over you.
• Like most holistic approaches, sound therapy sessions can sometimes trigger a personal process. If this happens, remember to stay mindful and be a compassionate witness to your experience. If anything challenging comes up, you can always come back to your breathing, or focus on the sound.
• If you wish to come out of the relaxation at any point, all you need to do is open your eyes or sit up. If you need to sit up at any point or change position, be mindful not to disturb the people around you.
• If you think you might snore, please lie on your side.

AFTER THE SOUND BATH
• After the sound finishes, there will be a few minutes silence to allow you to process your experience.
• After the silence, I will ask some questions to allow you to reflect on the ‘resistance’ (i.e., the symptom / situation you wish to 'release').

• I will then gently bring you back into the space and invite you to sit up and open your eyes in your own time. It can take a few minutes to come fully back afterwards, so please do not rush!
• Once you are feeling present and grounded, I will ask some general questions to the group and ask for a show of hands. You will not be expected to share anything, but you are welcome to do so if it feels right for you. You can also take some reflective notes to help you process your experience.
• You are welcome to speak to me at the end of the session privately if you have any questions or anything you wish to share.
• As this session is part of my Professional Diploma, I will ask you to complete a short feedback questionnaire before you leave.
