A Communal studio space for LGBTQIA+ dance artists, movers and practitioners.
We’re inviting dance artists to come and work alongside each other in our studios. Low-cost and easy to book, Town Square: Studio offers a fortnightly space for movement practice and creative encounter. To align with Pride we are hosting a Queer takeover of this Town Square: Studio.
As a shared space, we invite all users to be generous and open to the positive collision of different needs and practices. This is as much a space for working alone, as it is for small groups and those looking to collaborate.
Feel free to stay for as long or as short a time as you need within the allotted time.
Who is this Town Square: Studio for?
This space welcomes and centres all LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences. We also welcome those with intersectional and emerging queer life experiences which may situate them against normative expectations (whether this is through racialisation, disability, class and more). This is a Trans+ inclusive space, we ask that you don’t assume anyone’s gender identity or sexuality.
If you are a straight ally, we ask that you don’t take up space here. There are other Town Square activities, space hire and the opportunity to hang out at SDS – please see our website for more!

The spaces
The Roof Studio is a 16.5m x 12m space with wooden and white walls, high ceilings and windows. The capacity for sessions in the Roof Studio is 16. Both studios have a sound system that we invite you to use, as agreed between those sharing the space. We are unable to provide additional technical resources such as lighting or projection.
Group Bookings
Group bookings are limited to five, so that a group is not in the majority. Please book a ticket for each person in your group.
Cancellations and Refunds
We want this space to be available to those who are going to use it. If you have booked a place but can no longer make it, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make your space available to others. Repeatedly booking Town Square Studio and not attending, without letting us know, may result in a warning and then a temporary ban.
We cannot offer refunds for cancelled Town Square Studio bookings, but we can transfer your booking to another date where there is availability.

Siobhan Davies Studios

Siobhan Davies Studios is mostly accessible to wheelchair users, with lifts to all floors. Our main door is power assisted. There are two accessible parking spaces available on site which can be booked in advance.
Please note that our disabled toilets may not be suitable for all users (the toilets in our disabled toilets are 42cm high) and our changing facilities and showers are not fully accessible. Our closest publicly available and fully accessible changing facility is at The Castle Centre, a leisure centre 0.3 miles away from the studios. You can find full details of their features here.
