Are you a Designated Manager (DM), or likely to become one for your company in the near future, and looking for comprehensive, in-depth guidance into what your job responsibilities are? If so, this two-day course is for you! The Advanced Designated Manager Workshop is designed for those individuals who have a deep understanding of and experience implementing Chapter 245D and the Positive Supports Rule requirements. We will not discuss basic compliance standards but rather will build upon them. In fact, we will explore the "how" to implement compliance instead of simply discussing the "what." DMs that come to this course will have the opportunity to demonstrate their competence in applying regulatory standards and take them to the next level.

The course will include many topics that all relate to the seven Designated Manager job requirements (245D.081, subd. 3). At the heart of all of these requirements is ongoing program improvement and quality assurance that impact the quality of services people receive. You don't want to miss out on this thorough examination of DM responsibilities that both basic support and intensive support providers must do!

Course topics:

• Understand licensing and state regulatory requirements beyond Chapter 245D and the Positive Supports Rule
• Create an assessment of Designated Coordinator responsibilities and how to take corrective action to ensure compliance
• Practice methodologies to handle complex incident reports and completion of internal reviews
• Determine action based on qualitative and quantitative data regarding service evaluation and create a system to address necessary improvements
• Evaluate staff competency, develop competency assessments, and take corrective action to address gaps in staff training and education
• Understand DHS correction orders, draft and evaluate plans to correct deficiencies or identified areas, and understand DHS sanctions including fineable actions
• Discuss and write corrective action plans to address the development, documentation, and implementation of ongoing program improvements

This workshop is designed to be highly interactive. Every section will include active creation and/or evaluation of methods to implement the specific DM responsibility. Participants will work alongside each other and the instructor to discuss and develop systems, programs, and documents to implement key areas of the DM responsibilities. It is strongly recommended that each DM bring an electronic device, such as a laptop, where they can access their company's information and quickly create documents to promptly implement.
