'The Experimental Landscape' workshop w. Geoff Chilton

In this half day workshop, professional artist Geoff Chilton shows you how to free up your landscape painting using mixed media.

The first part of the session will be to gather material in the form of quick sketches and drawings from the rural landscape around Holme Mill. This will take us around 30 to 40 minutes (bring a sketchbook and pencil, and dress for the weather!).

The main part of the workshop will be about learning to develop your mark-making skills and how to use different abrasive media on top of a base acrylic painting. Learn how to use broad gestural marks to put intensity and emotion into your work.
The workshop is all about a visceral response to the landscape - a continuing series of reactions to what you see with ‘no holds barred’ free expression.

All materials will be provided for the workshop, but if want to bring any of your own favourite paints and brushes, please feel welcome to do so! Similarly, if you have your own sketchbook and favourite pencils and want to work with them, that’s okay too.

Please note: If the course has less than 5 clients booked, there is a chance of the course being cancelled. For this reason, we recommend booking sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. If the course is cancelled, we will offer a full refund or transfer to a similar course.
