Details

Get together with spoon carvers in the woods, learn from great female guest trainers, and improve your skills. Our flagship Great Scottish Spoon Hoolie is a must for all keen spoon carvers, whether you're an expert or a complete beginner.

Our flagship spoon carving event! Join us for a weekend (from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) and learn everything you need to know about spoon carving - whether you're a complete beginner or wanting to hone your expert skills. Your weekend ticket includes access to 4 workshops with guest trainers, and access to all social activities. This year, we're bringing the best female trainers to Scotland, to showcase the wonderful work women are doing in spoon world.

Meet our wonderful guest trainers

  • Rachel Bainton
  • Anna Barker
  • Jane Gray-Wallis
  • Jill Swan

If you'd prefer to be looked after for the weekend than rough it on your camping stove, go for the fully catered option, which includes fully catered meals using locally-sourced produce from Friday night through to Sunday lunchtime. We do the majority of our cooking over the campfire or BBQ, using wood and charcoal made on site.

If you would like to stay on site, please book a free camping space.

Pre-fest alert!
Our guest trainers are also offering a number of pre-fest workshops, taking place in the days leading up to the Spoon Hoolie. These workshops are either for one or two days, and provide the opportunity to spend time learning a skill in more detail. We have:

  • Off the live edge with Rachel, creating spreaders and spoons (1 day)
  • Making and decorating shrink boxes with Anna (1 day)
  • Making matching kitchen utensils from a single piece of wood with Jill (2 days)

We’re committed to pay people for the time that’s needed to organise, set-up, and run the events. That means we don’t rely on volunteers for any part of the events, and we aim to pay everyone fairly for their contributions. We also need the events to contribute towards our running costs as a social enterprise, so we can continue to deliver our social aims.

Instructions

Cancellation policy:

We'll also refund the value of the booking, seek a suitable placement on a similar event or rearrange the date of the event. If you have to cancel, please tell us as far in advance as possible. If you let us know at least 28 days in advance, we'll refund your booking.
