Back Care Class

Do you have aches, pains, tension in the back and/or neck? Have you been diagnosed with non-specific back pain (often referred to as muscular)? Do you have stiffness in the hips? Sciatica?
If any of the above apply, then this research-based, Dru Yoga Back Care class may what you need to relieve physical symptoms and associated mental/emotional stress.
Findings from a study conducted at Bangor University show the effectiveness of this Dru Back Care programme.
The study involved two groups of NHS employees; one group practised the programme over 8 weeks, and the second, control, group continued with their usual back care. The results show a significant reduction in sickness days due to back pain and muscoskeletal conditions among those who practiced the Back Care programme – 2 sickness days compared to 43 days taken by the control group.
The Dru Back Care programme is now part of rehabilitation and injury prevention programmes for professional athletes in the UK.
In 2024, I ran the programme over 5-weeks with a group of individuals who have back pain. Those who took part were amazed with the results. Here’s what a few of them said:

The class runs in 6-week blocks (consecutive weeks, unless I am off) and will be a running programme, so you can continue after the 6-weeks.
To get the full benefit of this programme, you will also be supported to devise a 10-minute home programme to use between classes.

Yoga mat (let me know in advance of the class if you need to borrow one please)
Blanket, cushion for relaxation
Bottled water for hydration
Clothing: Loose fitting leggings/tracksuit bottoms or similar, and a T.shirt is fine.
