Ian Russell, Local Historian
Ian Russell traces the early history of the Priory and introduces some more recent
inhabitants and visitors. Arthur Ponsonby, diplomat and pacifist politician, came in 1902 with his wife Dolly. Her father Hubert Parry, composer and director of the Royal College of Music often visited and wrote 'The Shulbrede Tunes'. Famously, he composed the tune for Blake's Jerusalem
