Step into a day of rest, release, and rebellion at our Heavy Metal Yoga Retreat Day at Scruffy Murphy’s, Birmingham. Blending grounding yoga sessions with immersive sound bath healing and a deeply restorative yoga nidra, this day is designed to help you reconnect with your body and quiet your mind, without losing your edge. 🖤
Your retreat day will be hosted by Helen Manente (Metal Yoga Kent) and Anna Fenton (Chickpea Yoga). Please check out our Instagram pages to get an idea of who we are and what we offer. We have a shared love of metal, and of bringing yoga to people in a way which makes them feel seen and included.
This retreat is suitable for every body, whether you’re brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner. It’s a safe, inclusive space for the alternative community to come together, slow down, and practice self-care in a way that feels authentic. No egos, no expectations. Just heavy riffs, deep rest, and radical self-compassion.

Attendees should bring:
A yoga mat (preferably with good grip) - I have spares if you need one. Just ask!
Water bottle to stay hydrated
Comfortable clothing that allows for movement
Layers, pillows and blankets for the sound bath and yoga nidra sessions
A towel (for sweat and/or extra padding)
Optional: Blocks or straps for support (we have plenty of these too), earplugs if sensitive to volume, and any personal item for meditation (like a crystal, journal, or eye pillow). You're welcome to bring anything you like to decorate the space around your mat - think LED candles, fairy lights... Just make sure it's nothing you might knock over and break!
