Everything you need to know if you are thinking about your first triathlon or aquabike (swim and cycle only)
Black Country Triathletes are holding a novice training session 1-5pm.
This includes all the knowledge you need on equipment and the race day experience.
We set up a transition area to practice the "swim to bike" and "bike to run" changeover. We will have a technique-based swim session.
Where and when
Wombourne Leisure Centre
Ounsdale Rd

Saturday 8th August, 1–5 pm
Kit to bring
• Bike
• Helmet
• Swim Costume – either Tri Suit / Lycra shorts or swim costume or baggy shorts (fine if that is all you have)
• Swimming Goggles
• Race Kit: Either - Tri Suit Or: Swim Costume and an Old Baggy T-shirt and possibly shorts
• Running Shoes
• Bike shoes for transition practice (if you are not using your run trainers on the bike).
• Old Towel (to lay your transition kit on)
• Windproof / Waterproof jacket (obviously depending on weather)
The session format
We will be signing everyone in from 12:50 pm. We will cover an introduction to triathlon and BCT, what happens on race day, and an overview of the equipment.
We will then move outside for transition practice. We will have a small transition area set up and go through the correct layout of the race kit and practice bike mount dismount.
Please bring some wet weather clothing and also (depending on the forecast) all the kit you envisage using in the race itself – see the list at the start of this email.
We will start the swim session just before 4 pm.
This element is going to be technique-based, with stroke correction as the focus rather than distance swimming.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask, see you all on Saturday.
Thanks
Andy, Dave and Emma
