Bring your memories and stories of Sutton Coldfield to contribute to this community song-making workshop run by local musician Zoë Challenor, hosted by FOLIO Sutton Coldfield as part of the Telling Sutton's Stories project (http://foliosuttoncoldfield.org.uk/map).

We’ll be collecting your memories and experiences, to make a living, breathing song that tells the story of Sutton Coldfield in your own words. We hope you will return with your family of all ages on November 21st (2-4pm) to learn the finished song and enjoy some community music making around a camp fire. Joining us at the second event is, of course, completely optional and you can attend either session without attending the other.

On Sunday the 5th please arrive between 2-2.30 to give yourself time to browse the Telling Sutton Stories exhibition.

The workshop will run from 2.30-5 with a short break during which refreshments will be provided.

Please book a ticket for each person in your party (except for babes in arms).

If you are unable to join this workshop but would still like to share a memory or story about Sutton for possible inclusion in the new song, you can submit it via this form: https://forms.gle/Mon115D5LnnGsEmX7

Sutton Coldfield resident Zoë Challenor trained as a singer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and spent eight years as Choral Director and Singing Teacher at Trinity Laban Conservatoire Junior Department in London. She sings as a soloist with Sutton Coldfield Choral Society and the Emmanuel Choirs, works with Welsh National Opera to deliver singing workshops, and co-founded and directs B'Opera Baby Opera, creating and touring shows to Birmingham Hippodrome, Coventry Belgrade and beyond. Commissioned by FOLIO Sutton Coldfield in 2019, B'Opera made Alice and the Library Tree, a children's opera about the magic of books, which was performed at Sutton Coldfield Library and Concerts in the Park Sutton Coldfield and has since gone on to tour widely.

Telling Sutton's Stories through Song is made possible thanks to a grant from Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme.

Instrukciók

Please wear clothes to keep you warm outside.

If the weather is fine, the workshop will take place in the small woodland beside St Chad's Church. This space does have a path, but it is not paved, and may be unsuitable for those who are in a wheelchair. We would, however, like this event to be welcoming to everyone, so if you would like to attend and have concerns about mobility, please let us know so we can find a solution that works for you. Some seating in chairs will be provided. Some seating will be on logs in the wood.

If the weather is bad we will move indoors to the community hall at St Chads, where the space will be well ventilated and we will ask participants to keep 2m apart, with chairs for everyone.
