Maati Yoga is a Dalit–Adivasi (Indigenous Indian)–led yoga practice, created by From Dalit. Led by Khush of the Kalbeliya Sapera tribe of India.
Khush has completed formal training through a one-year immersive yoga teacher training program registered with Yoga Australia (Level 1), alongside a 50-hour Yin Yoga training with Yoga Alliance. While grounded in formal study that appeases to western frameworks, Maati Yoga acknowledges that yoga goes much deeper especially as lived and practiced from a Dalit and Adivasi lens, it moves differently from Brahmanical practices of yoga.
The Maati Yoga class is a slow, grounded, floor-based practice rooted in indigenous earth wisdom.
The practice stays close to the ground, inviting weight, rest, breath, and simple movement to reconnect with what supports us and to return to our natural rhythm.
This is a class is for tired bodies, changing bodies, pregnant bodies, and for all bodies. For anyone seeking steadiness and rest within a yoga class. There is space to pause, to feel, and to let the body remember its own pace.
Maati Yoga invites a return to the ground that holds you.
