This one-day workshop aims to educate participants on the basics of crisis theory and to teach communication skills that are essential for crisis intervention. Topics covered in this workshop include fundamental counselling skills, counselling tools, crisis development, defining crisis, and a crisis intervention counselling model. Basic information on suicide assessment and intervention will be covered. Role plays and other experiential activities will also be incorporated into the workshop.
The workshop is geared to those working or volunteering with individuals in crisis (however working in a service provider capacity is not required), and wanting a basic understanding of crisis counselling skills.
Location: Klinic Community Health (167 Sherbrook St) - IN PERSON
Session times: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Cost: $100.00
A minimum one-week notice is required to receive refund of registration fee. Email a notice of registration cancellation to Education@klinic.mb.ca. Notice must provide Booking #, full name of person registered, and session title and date(s).
Schedule is subject to change. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop due to insufficient registration and we will make every effort to provide as much advance notice as possible.
Parking:
There is no parking onsite at Klinic, however, there is free time-restricted street parking on Furby Street and Langside Street. Note: Please be mindful of parking time restrictions, as Klinic Community Health is not responsible for any tickets or fees incurred.
