In this class, we explore how falling can become a trusted and creative part of the dance. Falling can bring tension or a nervous reaction, so we will work with gentle off-centre movement to build confidence in giving weight through falling with softness and clarity. We will practise falling alone and with a partner, learning to stay responsive, relaxed and aware as we transition downward and even discover moments where it feels like we fall upward.
A core element of the practice is noticing the difference between surrendering into the fall and trying to control or resist it. When we let go into falling, the body often organises itself more safely and intelligently than when we brace or fight the descent. Expect simple pathways that support safe surrender and reveal how falling can open new and surprising movement possibilities.
