Facilitation Skills is our flagship service provider workshop formed from thousands of sexuality and reproductive health workshops in and out of schools across Manitoba. This 2-day workshop is designed to be a jump-start at becoming a sexual and reproductive health facilitator, with activities you can take with you to start facilitating after the workshop.
The beginning of the workshop starts with a theoretical basis for facilitating sexual health discussions along with our Operational Principles to guide our work. The bulk of the workshop then looks at different topic areas, giving background information, demonstrating activities to stimulate discussion and key messages to stay on track.
The topic areas included are:
• Consent
• Anatomy
• Puberty
• Fertility & Reproduction
• Relationships (with self, others and land)
• Safer Sex Decision Making (decision making and barrier use)
• Birth Control
• STIs
• Gender Norms & Violence Prevention
• Sexting, Porn, AI & Tech
This workshop is designed for those working with youth aged 10 years old and older, with a focus on teens and young adults. The information and activities are relevant for young adults and adults as well, with minor adaptations. Great for anyone wanting to learn about facilitating group conversations on sexual and reproductive health.
This in-person workshop will take place at SERC's Winnipeg office. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided. There will be a lunch break. Participants are welcome to use SERC's kitchen (fridge, microwave, dishes) if bringing their own lunch, or they can go out to grab something during the break.
