This event will take you through the steps of how to survey individual trees and add significant (notable/ veteran and ancient) ones to the Woodland Trust's Ancient Tree Inventory (ATI) database. It will be led by ATI verifiers, local experts, who have many years of experience in recording trees. There will be an indoor introduction and then a visit to some of the nearby old willows where the method of recording will be demonstrated. The method is the same for all old trees but here we are focussing on the Willows. The indoor session also includes an introduction to the climate action and willow project which is supporting the work.
We will start in the village hall but the remainder of the session will be outdoors. There will be some walking but also standing for periods as the tree is recorded. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and note that we will not be returning to the village hall at the end of the session.
