Summer STEM Club

We are running a Summer STEM Club this year that will be hosted at 'In-Comm Training Academy' within there state of the art Engineering and Manufacturing training facility.

The Summer STEM Club has been designed to help children explore the world of engineering by immersing them in different engineering sectors each day given them lots of stimulus to continue to experiment and explore.

Monday - Mechanical Engineering
Children will explore and make a range of mechanical systems that allow products to move. They will then put their knowledge to the test by addressing a real life manufacturing challenge that will see them designing and making a mechanical device to address a real life scenario.

Tuesday - Aerospace Engineering
Children will explore the world of aerospace engineering and design and make a range of products that will take to the air.
They will also gain the opportunity of branding their air craft using computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing techniques.

Wednesday - Automotive Engineering
Children will design and make an F1 race car using traditional engineering techniques.
They will work within our workshop using a range of hand tools to measure, mark out, cut and shape their car. They will then compete on our F1 race track where the cars will be powered using C02 canisters.

Thursday - Electrical Engineering
Children will explore electrical systems and how they work.
They will design and make their own electrical system to address a design problem.
They will then explore intelligence in electrical systems by embedding the use of control technology.

Friday - Structural Engineering
Children will explore the complex structures that are in and around the environments that we work and play.
They will be given the task to design and make a flood defence system and explore how they can make a moving structure using fluid power.

• The above programme is subject to change prior to the week commencing.

The club will be open to children aged 8 years - 13 years.

Children that are booked in for the week will receive a goodie bag.
