This session will be led by Tim Spencer-Lane, a lawyer who specialises in mental capacity, mental health and social care law.
This is a live briefing session, via Zoom, and you will be able to ask questions in real-time using the chat function on your screen. The session will NOT be recorded.
We will spend a large chunk of this session covering Court of Protection rulings relating to deprivation of liberty that have been made since the Supreme Court "AGNI" ruling of June 2026. Just a reminder: the "AGNI" ruling redefined what constitutes a deprivation of liberty, overturning the "Acid Test" definition from 2014.
