Withy Lantern Workshop – Willow Weaving
Join us for a free, two-part willow weaving workshop where you’ll learn to create your very own beautiful lantern using natural willow withies.
Across two sessions, you’ll be guided through the process of shaping and weaving your lantern, learning traditional craft techniques and creating something truly special to light up the darker evenings.
Once your lantern is complete, we’ll carefully look after it until Bright Friday (27th November), when you’ll be invited to join the lantern parade and see your creation become part of the celebrations. After the parade, your lantern is yours to keep!
Can’t make the parade? No problem! Yorkshire CREATE will keep your lantern, and it will become part of Bright Friday for years to come, helping to bring light and magic to the celebration year after year.
So, whether you’d like to make and keep your lantern or make and donate it to become part of Bright Friday’s growing collection, come along, get creative, and be part of something special.

Look out for the building with the 'Hexagon House' sign. There is parking available in front of and behind the Studio. Our studio is on the second floor - there is a lift available.
If you are travelling by public transport, you can get the bus to St James's Retail Park (1A).
