Details

The DPhil viva workshop is for those who are expecting to sit their viva in the next six months. The workshop focuses on the practical issues surrounding the viva and tries to demystify as much of the process as possible. The workshop provides participants with some resources that aim to help manage expectations, develop confidence, and clarify the institutional systems within which the viva operates.

The workshop covers:

• What the examiners will be assessing at the viva

• What to expect at your viva

• Things to think about in advance

• Ways of preparing

• What happens afterwards

The workshop will not cover candidate-specific information such as likely questions for individual theses. These should be discussed with your supervisor.

Please note that the subject of this workshop is the final DPhil viva, not Transfer or Confirmation of Status vivas.
