Transforming Practice Through Trauma-Informed Principles – 2 Day (12 hours)

Across human-service sectors, many employees support individuals who are living with trauma while also navigating trauma themselves. This two-day training is designed for anyone working in relational, community-based, or client-facing roles, and for staff seeking to understand how their own lived experiences intersect with their work.
Rooted in trauma-informed principles and aligned with Indigenous teachings acknowledging land, relationships, and intergenerational experiences of trauma, this training invites participants to transform both their practice and their workplace well-being.
Day One
Day one explores the prevalence, impact, and transmission of trauma, including developmental, intergenerational, and historical trauma. Together, we examine how safety, choice, collaboration, peer support, and cultural humility must guide all interactions, not only with clients but also with colleagues and ourselves.
Participants will learn how to:
• Recognize signs of trauma and stress responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, face, flourish) 
• Apply a trauma-informed lens to service delivery
• Create physical, emotional, cultural/spiritual, and psychological safety for clients and staff
This day supports all professionals who work with youth and adults living with trauma and those carrying trauma personally to situate their practice in compassion, safety, and transparency.
Day Two
Many helpers and educators experience vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, empathic strain, and workplace environments affected by collective stress. Day two focuses on supporting the helper and educator.
Participants explore:
• What living with trauma looks like in the workplace and how it affects regulation, trust, boundaries, and connection 
• How to identify and respond to signs of staff burnout and overwhelm.
