Shrink pots originate from Scandinavia and are primarily used in the kitchen for dry goods or utensils but can have many purposes. Carved from locally sourced windblown wood. It’s a great introduction to greenwood work.
Using traditional hand tools and a drill, we will hollow out a greenwood log and then fit a seasoned wood base inside it. This will create a pot/container as the greenwood dries out the base will become secure.
We will cover drying techniques for when your shrink pot is drying at home as wood is an unpredictable material.
Finally, we will cover finishing and refining your shrink pot further when it’s finished drying and how to choose the right wood to make more.
