Got a new puppy and excited to get started with them? These classes are for puppies up to around 6months. There will be an emphasis on socialisation to new things as well as starting on the foundation skills including:
Recall
Lead walking
Sit, down
Wait
Leave it
Settling on a bed
All of the training is reward based using food and toys.
Where time allows we may fit in some fun stuff such as tricks and scent work.
IMPORTANT:
Due to the age of the puppies this class is not suitable for dogs that are not comfortable around people and other dogs, that may react with barking and lunging.
Please contact me if your dog is reactive so that we can discuss how we can accommodate their needs.

YOU WILL NEED:
A DOG ON A FLAT COLLAR OR HARNESS AND A LEAD
A 6ft flat lead or training lead is best. Please don't bring choke chains, half chokes or an extendable lead. Extendable leads are a nightmare to work with in class. A long line will be useful for recall training.
LOTS AND LOTS OF FOOD REWARDS OR TREATS
way more than you think you will need. You might want to reduce your dog's meals on class days. It is also a good idea not to feed your dog immediately before class so that they are more likely to take the treats. I strongly recommend you use higher value treats such as sausage, cheese, hot dogs, chicken or other meats to get better engagement in this potentially challenging environment.
Treats should be smallish and easily chewed. Large, hard to chew treats will slow your delivery down and with training its about getting in as many successful repetitions as possible.
TREAT POUCH
if you have one but you can get by without one. Treats should be easily accessible without too much fumbling so that delivery can be speedy. Loose in a pocket will work better than putting them in a plastic bag.

TOYS:
that you can interact with your dog such as a ball on a rope or a tug toy. Even a rolled up tea towel can make an exciting toy. No squeakies please, all hell will break loose with the other pups.

DOGBED
We will be using this for training exercises. If you have one with nice clear sides or a raised bed that would be best but even a simple mat or folded towel would do
You may also want to bring a water dish and water
IMPORTANT:
Please drive with extreme caution when entering the carpark.
Please keep dogs on lead.
Please clean up after your dog. There is a poop bin located near the entrance gate.
