Bee Proud! Fit Workshop - Ages 17 and up - For All Levels

Join us at Beehive to celebrate Pride Month! Got clothes that almost fit but not quite? This chill, beginner-friendly workshop is all about learning the basics of altering your garments to better fit your body and style. No sewing experience needed—just bring yourself. Open to all queer and trans folks looking to feel more at home in what they wear.

Your instructor, Jana, is a queer femme who has worked with clothing and costumes for years and knows just how important alterations can be for confidence. She has seen and felt the difference gender affirming alterations can make, especially among our gender non-conforming siblings. She will guide you in straight hems, curved hems, and adding darts. You’ll also get ideas on how to customize when a garment is to small or short and tips on how to pick items that can easily be altered!
This workshop will be using precut fabrics for you to learn the techniques, we will not have time to do full alterations on actual garments. If you’d like to bring a piece you have a question about, we might be able to give advice if time allows!

Event is in partnership with WeSew Austin Meetup group, which hosts multiple events every month that connects sewists at every level.
Beginner level event, the sewing machine will be threaded and there will be volunteers to help if you get stuck.

There are three separate 1 hour and 30 minute time slots for workshops starting at: 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm. Please select the ticket with your preferred time slot at checkout.

In the interest of accessibility and protection of those at risk in our community, the 12:30pm workshop is masks required. There will be KN95 masks available if you don't have one! There is a door in the classroom that goes directly outside if you need a break.

In an effort to be as accessible as possible, we can waive the fee if you are in need. Please email beehiveclasses@gmail.com to request a free ticket, no questions asked, and we will accommodate as long as there is space available.

CLASS POLICIES
o Your spot will not be reserved in the class until payment is made in full.
o All students or their Parents/Guardians must sign a waiver before participating in class activities. This should be provided as a check box in your checkout process.
o This class has a 3 person minimum. Class may be cancelled if minimum is not met 48 hours prior to class.
o Beehive Craft Studio reserves the right to cancel a class at any time.
If we do so, you'll be issued a full refund.
o Inclement Weather Policy: We reserve the right to cancel class if we deem that weather would make traveling to class dangerous. Every attempt will be made to schedule a makeup for the missed class.

o No refunds for no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of workshop. Refunds will be processed online within 48 hours of cancellation with the funds going back to your method of payment.
o Everyone works at different speeds and while we expect everyone to finish by the end of the workshop we can't guarantee it!
