A half day workshop, learning a variety of basketry processes used in Rush work, whilst making your own beautifully shaped piece to take home.
Matilda will demonstrate a variety of techniques and during the workshop there will be time for some hands-on experimenting and learning about Rush.
Whether you are completely new to basketry, or have made a handful of baskets, this workshop is suitable for you. Weaving is a physical process and reasonable hand strength is required.

Matilda Grover is a Sussex based designer, maker and basket weaver.
Matilda is a Sussex based designer, maker and basket weaver. Her specialism in basketry drawns on her professional experience and education in design and craft. Her connection with the natural world and desire to live and work in a sustainable way, has led her to work increasingly with natural and local materials. Having worked in a variety of design, research and craft-led practices Matilda has gained a broad knowledge of vernacular materials and processes.
Matilda has taught various design and making workshops in the UK and South Africa. These workshops have given her a greater understanding of how design and making can have a positive impact on people and their communities. She believes the processes of making and weaving are innate and to forge a career within craft and to pass on the skills she has learnt to others continues to be a privilege.
This half-day workshop is open to adults (18+) is open to all abilities including beginners, and is a fun activity to share with friends or as an individual.
Refreshments and the items you have made to take home are included in the workshop price.
