A 1:1 programme to spark curiosity and connection with children at the very early stages of communication.
In this series of 6 workshops we will introduce you to the 4 stages of the Curiosity programme, discuss the ideas behind it and use real-life examples to show how and why it works.
You will learn how to get started, make connections and nurture social communication 1:1.

The training is spread over 6 live, 75-minute sessions with Gina Davies so you can get the programme into action between the workshops. We will cover all 4 stages of the Curiosity programme, illustrated with supporting videos and activity demonstrations.
The course will consist of 6 sessions spread over several weeks.
Session 1
An introduction to the ideas that inspire the programme
Understanding the impact of the ASD in everyday life on early shared attention and social communication skills
Understanding what happens when reciprocal interaction does not flow as expected
Creating an environment that provides the best possible context for engagement
Getting practical and tuned in to the child
Session 2
Getting going 1:1
Building confidence in personalising the strategies for you and the child
Understanding each unique child's way of telling us things
Practical aspects of getting the timing right and building rhythm in an interaction
Nurturing, inviting and responding to the child in successful exchanges
Session 3
Adding intonation and rhythm
Creating signature songs to engage around everyday activities
Valuing sounds and noises to build interest in everyday activities
Making it unique to each child
Keeping going and enjoying the process
Session 4
Creating curiosity
Suggestions for materials and activities
Engaging and exploring together
Building experience in shared activities
Creating possibilities and imagination
Session 5
Early interactive games
Building rich social communication opportunities into activities
Valuing the process and keeping it interesting for everyone involved
Understanding how to create breadth and depth of learning opportunities
Having fun and keeping going!
Session 6
The course is available at £210.00 and is limited to 35 places.
All sessions run on Wednesdays at 1:00pm from 27th April to 15th June 2022. The sessions will be run in English but all nationalities are welcome!
