Paul Donovan: 70/20/10: Through the Eyes of our Top Organisations

Dr Paul Donovan, Maynooth University has conducted research into the 70 20 10 model as a result of requests from IITD members following a presentation he made on the topic with Kevin Hannigan, HPC, last November. Paul conducted focus groups with 6 leading Irish/international organisations to discuss how they utilise the model with a view to seeking themes and trends and perhaps signal a way to further research and a replacement model.

Paul will present the result of these focus groups and synthesise what some our our leading organisations think and do in this space. The questions he asked in the focus group discussions included:

· What does the term 702010 mean to you?

· What benefits does the model bestow on you in your L and D role?

· Does the model apply in all circumstances;

· Are the proportions of the model fixed;

· What criteria do organisations use when selecting appropriate learning solutions?

· Which approaches have been found to be effective and in what circumstances?
