The session will see you be introduced to the horses followed by the chance to groom, stroke and spend time with the horses and ponies. This is NOT a horse riding experience. You will have chance to spend time with the ponies, grooming, brushing manes, working on hooves, wesather dependent ( walk/ wetting down horses) Parent/Carer will be required to support their child throughout the session at all times
Information re the yard
The Yard. We have 6 stables and a metal container to use. The floor is made of hardcore so as long as the weather is dry, it’s relatively mud free. There are places we ask our clients not to go but those are all signposted. The paddocks have hardcore gate ways but in bad weather there will be mud! Expect animal noises and smells, muck and real weather!
As part of your first session, we will tour the yard and gently introduce our ideal behaviour expectations. We understand that everyone is different and we aim to make people feel listened to and understood. We explain our yard rules from the animals point of view.
For every session, the animals welfare always comes first. If we decide the animal needs a break then we will change activities accordingly. We are people centred also, so same applies for our clients!
++ NOTE: In order for the session to proceed we will require a minimum number of attendees- If we do not fulfil this then the session will be cancelled- You will be advised if this is the case++
Please take note of attendee instructions for location of yard.
Arrival. We are situated on Lea End Lane, Hopwood, B48 7AX. Our gate is opposite an open drive with big gates for Hopwood Yard. Our gate opens outwards onto the road, and you can drive your car onto the yard to park. We will be there to greet you and open the gate to guide you in.
Your child may need your support during this session in order to follow instructions
You will remain responsible for your child at all times
