Neurolive Open Studio | Measuring brain activity during live performance

The scientific team behind the EU- funded project Neurolive, will be demonstrating the new and innovative mobile EEG (electroencephalogram) technology being used to monitor and study the notions of “liveness” in dance. They will be joined by dance artists Seke Chimutengwende and Stephanie McMann. Come and take part in this opening up of the project, and experience first-hand how science and dance are working together to explore notions of liveness.

For this event, you will have the opportunity to try out a mobile device to measure brain activity being used in the project. Please be aware that this involves some set up, including applying a gel to the wearer’s head, which enables the electrodes to work. Participants will be provided with towels if they wish to wash this gel out of their hair at the end of the event. Part of the aim of this open studio day is to explore and refine these logistics and ways of hosting audience members. We welcome your participation in that, whether as wearer or observer.
For further information about EEG system usage please the NHS website.
