Our flagship programme now takes place entirely outdoors in Hackney Woods. It is facilitated by Natali Castro, who home educated her daughter and has mentored over 80 home-educated children since 2020. Sessions follow a flexible, free-flow approach inspired by the child-led ethos of Forest School.
Curiosity leads the way. Time in nature may include a mixture of embodied games, arts and crafts, nature identification, fire building, cooking, bushcraft, woodwork, tree climbing and open exploration.
Every session is planned with prompts, games, discussion and practises that help participants befriend their feelings and meet their needs, as well as developing assertive communication and healthy boundaries.
We recognise that regular, meaningful connection with nature builds resilience, confidence and a deeper sense of wellbeing.
We maintain a small adult-to-child ratio so each child feels seen, safe and supported, allowing a more personalised guidance.
All facilitators, helpers and volunteers are DBS checked. Lead facilitators hold safeguarding and first aid training. Helpers and volunteers engage in ongoing training. The programme is fully insured.

CLOTHING
Dress for active outdoor play. Lightweight long sleeves and trousers are recommended to protect from scratches, insects and sun, and a sweater. A waterproof jacket may be needed, Closed-toe shoes, and a sun hat. A spare set of clothes and a refillable water bottle are also essential.
FOOD
Bring your child a pack lunch, snacks and drinks, including a bottle of water. We will have drinking water on site. Please make sure to let us know of your child's dietary needs, including allergies and intolerance's.
CANCELLING SESSIONS
Due to changeable weather conditions if there are winds over 40m/ph we would have to cancel the session, due to the risk of falling branches in the woodland. We would alert you to this prior to the session through the what’s app group.
RISK
Forest school activities may involve an element of risk, such as climbing trees, fire building and the use of tools. While recognising the benefits of experiencing some risk, we always assess the activity to reduce potential severity of harm. Activities are supervised by a relevant adult
