Details

  • Come and learn the lost skill of making your own flint knapped arrowhead on this 3 hour course.
  • Through learning some of the basic principles required to knap flint, we will step back in time together to the sounds of stones breaking.
  • Learn the technique of pressure flaking and craft your own arrowhead to take home.
  • Ages 10+ (all below 18 accompanied by an adult - adult can either supervise without the need to book, or take part for which a booked space on the workshop is required)
  • All materials and tools supplied
  • Tools used: Antler and Copper Pressure Flakers, Hard Hammer stones, Abrading Stones
  • Self catered – bring any drinks and snacks desired. Small breaks are encouraged and there is time for taking moments to relax.

Instructions

  • The course is held in the woods at the Garlic Farm. Please dress accordingly for the weather on the day of your workshop. If it is raining we will be undercover.

  • Trousers and closed toe shoes (not sandals/open toed shoes) are necessary.

  • There are log stools for seating but feel free to bring along your own camping chair if this is preferred.

  • This is a self catered workshop - please bring along your own refreshments and snacks as you please, or make a visit to the lovely Garlic Farm Restaurant (booking advised) or Allium Cafe.

  • All participants should meet outside the Garlic Farm Shop entrance at the end of the car park for the beginning of the workshop time, we will then make our way to the woodland workshop.

All participants should meet outside the Garlic Farm Shop entrance at the end of the car park for the allotted workshop time, we will then make our way to the woodland workshop. Please arrive on time in order to not miss the workshop. Please note once the workshop has begun late arrivals won't be able to attend.
